Welcome to our new look BeConnected - the email newsletter for alumni and former staff of Birmingham City University. We hope that you like the new design, which provides more opportunities for us to share news of the latest developments at the University with you.  

This month we are continuing to seek nominations for Alumni of the Year 2014. Each year the University recognises and celebrates the achievements of up to five graduates in three categories: Community engagement and leadership, Enterprise and innovation, and Excellence in sports or the arts. Do you know a graduate who deserves to be named one of our Alumni of the Year? Nominate by 5pm on 30 April - see the link above for details.

Postgraduate open evening

The University will be opening its doors to prospective students at a postgraduate open evening next week. Taking place at Millennium Point from 4-7pm on 30 April, the evening will provide information for those considering further study.

Region's biggest jobs fair 

Birmingham Made Me will be holding the region’s biggest jobs fair this May (6-9). Over 40 of the region’s leading employers will be at Millennium Point. The jobs fair will provide an opportunity for young people to discuss career options.

City Talk: BBC Birmingham

Tommy Nagra, Head of Business Development for BBC Birmingham, will be headlining the next in the series of the University’s City Talks on May 22. This event is free to attend and will be held at the University's Parkside Building.

Parkside Building officially opened 

The University’s new multi-million pound Parkside Building was officially opened by Lord Michael Heseltine in March. The state-of-the-art home for Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) and Birmingham School of Media marks the first step in creating a centre of excellence for the creative industries in the City’s Eastside region.
